A Life Drawn to Beauty
Discover the world of Pony and Belle through the work of Australian artist, fashion and textile designer and illustrator Belinda Baynes, whose practice is shaped by a lifelong
connection to horses, fashion, and art.

Pony & Belle by Belinda Baynes
Pony and Belle was never created in the traditional sense - it evolved. It began with an instinctive draw toward beauty in its quietest forms: the way light rests on a horse’s coat, the fluid movement of fabric, the soft, layered tones of the Australian landscape. From these moments, a world emerged. One where art, fashion, and the spirit of the horse exist in harmony, and where each piece carries a story beyond what is seen.

Founded in Kenthurst, Sydney, by Australian artist and designer Belinda Baynes, Pony and Belle has grown into a distinctive collection of equestrian art, fashion illustration, limited edition prints, and thoughtfully designed pieces for the home. At its core, it is a reflection of Belinda’s artistic vision - one that values beauty, strength, and a sense of individuality.

Belinda’s creative path began at her school Abbotsleigh, Wahroonga, where she fell in love with Textiles and Design and was lucky enough to have an incredible teacher who fostered her newfound passion.
Determined to become a designer, she graduated from the University of Technology, Sydney with a B. Design(Hons) Fashion and Textile Design before working within the Australian industry for major Australian designers.
This foundation shaped her eye for composition, detail, and movement. However over time, the desire to create something more personal began to take hold and pushed along quicker by a lifelong battle with endometriosis since a child. In 2008 after the birth of her first child, she shifted her focus to her own art practice and contract fashion design and illustration allowing for a more intuitive and expressive style to unfold. She also developed a niche range of equestrian-inspired children's clothing, 'SaddleBabies'
Since then, her work has been collected across Australia and internationally, and recognised with accolades including First Place at the Sydney Royal Easter Show in 2024. Yet despite this recognition, the heart of Pony and Belle remains deeply personal - grounded in the themes that continue to inspire her work.

At the centre of each piece is an ongoing exploration of three defining influences: the horse, the language of fashion, and the strong presence of women.

The horse embodies strength, grace, and quiet power.
Fashion introduces movement, elegance, and narrative.
And women bring depth, complexity, and an undeniable sense of identity. These elements are layered together through expressive brushwork, rich colour palettes, and textural detail, creating artworks that feel both soft and strong, timeless yet contemporary.

Whether an original painting or a limited edition fine art print, each work is created with intention - to evoke a feeling, to capture a moment, or to bring a sense of calm and beauty into a space.

Alongside her collections, Belinda offers bespoke commissions, including custom horse portraits, wedding illustrations, and personalised artworks, each one developed in her signature style. Pony and Belle also extends into commercial illustration and design, collaborating on creative projects that merge artistry with vision.
Beyond the artwork itself, Pony and Belle speaks to something more considered.

It is about living with pieces that feel meaningful. About creating spaces that reflect who you are. And about the quiet luxury of surrounding yourself with beauty that endures.

This is the world of Pony and Belle: where equestrian elegance, artistic expression, and everyday beauty come together, effortlessly redefined.
